Try a laminate kitchen floor tile.
That's a good idea, bookbinder!

But if Fablon is too thick....
JJ I seem to remember that you have a Dunelm near to you I'm sure you'll be able to find something there
don't really understand how fablon can be "too thick" - it's not all that thick.
Is Contact Paper thinner than Fablon. Plenty on Amazon
Look for a table on Freecycle. Amazing what people give away.
Heat activated shrink wrap. You know, that stuff you can't get off without a chainsaw.
Decoupage with napkins or other pretty papers would give it a different look if you want to keep the same table.

////Look for a table on Freecycle.///

Last Saturday threw 4 small tables into skip. Italian embossed with glass over them. Why - none were the right size.
JJ, are you saying you threw away 4 tables because they were the wrong size? Maybe you mean someone else threw them into the skip?
Question Author
no I threw them away - I have them so long - nobody wanted them and I threw them out as they were taking up room.

They didn't serve any purpose at all.
What a waste JJ, sure some upcycling project would have loved them.
I've been having a bit of a clear out & got rid of several items through our local "Freecycle" website. Not worth trying to sell low value items & if someone else can use it....

(PS - no-one wants old music cassette tapes though!)
Shocking waste. At least take to a charity shop. I recycle everything I can and never buy new just for the sake of it.
Gill, three charity shops refused to accept a TV stand in perfect condition, said they had similar in the shops for so long they had to go the skip.

I advertised them in Freecycle thing local to me online. Nobody wanted them
