Is it just me or are Thunder the best rock band of the past 20 years? Danny Bowes superb vocalist and Luke Morley's songs are a great combination. Their one off concerts are always an instant sell out.

Dudley is talking about the last 20 years. You Shook Me All Night Long came out in 1980 and 1986, and AC/DC aint done much since 1992 though one of the all time great Rock bands. I'd put them in the Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zep, Rainbow, Rush and Whitesnake bracket. Maiden and Guns'n'Roses biggies in the 90s, Metallica possibly though I can't stand 'em and...

Er - it's just you!
Don't know about being the best but they're certainly up there. Like you say great songs, really good vocalist, I've always rated Thunder, must be in my top 10 Rock acts of all time.
Thunder Who????

jem
I saw them support Bon Jovi (along with Van Halen) back in the early 90s. TBH I was suprised at how many of the songs I actually knew. They performed well live.

They wrote some good stuff but wouldnt put them 'up there' as the best!

Who's better then Andy? I'd be really interested to give your choice a try. And how many of Thunder's 70 odd original tracks have you really listened to?
The thing is Dudley - we can argue this from a personal taste perspective, which is futile because we see Thunder differently, you like them a lot, I am supremely indifferent.

Or we can argue from a popularity point of view - where Thunder have hardly set the world alight as a major force in rock music.

I applaud your defence of your favourite band, but trying to get the rest of the world to love them like you do is a disappointing task better not attempted.

However - check out Band Of Skulls, my current fave, who are hopefully destined for great things.
Best Rock band of the last 20 years - Green Day or Mettallica or Nirvana Or Oasis or Smashing Pumpkins or Blink 182.

Then theres U2, The Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Audio Slave, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

So I agree with Andy

Good points raised guys, it's in the ear of the beholder. I'll stick with Thunder and popularity has never been my criteria anyway. I've tried Green Day, AC/DC, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Chickenfoot, like a lot of Metallica's stuff and the Stones haven't done anything memorable in the past twenty years. Have seen Deep Purple recently and nothing much new there and Rammstein who were superb as always. Agree about Oasis, great band and watch out for Red, White and Blues who supported Chickenfoot at The Brixton Academy recently.
Check out Trigger Finger, a three piece rock band from Belgium! Saw them recently supporting Thin Lizzy, they were excellent.
AC/DC hands down easy winners for me!
im with you on that 1 sooper. AC/DC all day long. but i do like Thunder aswell. different league.
you can't top these boys : )

So hard to define when you're talking Rock but over a 20 year period 1992 to 2012 I don't think Dudley is far off with Thunder.
