My boyfriend has a scab which he keeps picking. If he puts a plaster on it will it stop it healing?

I am making a seafood paella but I always seem to get the rice wrong. When I eat paella at my favourite restaurant it is always firm and as it should be. Would any-one know why my rice always turns...
