criminal compansation

How long does it normally take for criminal compensation to come through?My son can't work for a while because of his attack and needs it now.

attempted murder changed to with intent?

My son was stabbed twice and had to have a life saving op of which he nearly lost his arm ,anyway the person responsible was charged with attempted murder but it is now changed to wounding with...
