lying on a statement

im being accused of hitting someone with a glass (not true) he got 3/4 of his friend to say same,accuser is saying he went to break up arguement i was having with his friend then i hit him with glass...

can i use a plea of self defence if the person started punching me first ,then i swung my arms back hitting him with my beer bottle accidently, hes dening even have a fight with me (hes lying),now...

how long does an conviction stay for

gbh 18 yrs ago,also does anyone know, do the courts take into consideration if you have good job for a long time,also a small child 3 years old ,married, a morgage can they take gbh 18 years ago...
