stained glass lighting

I am making 5" square by 3 foot tall stained glass floor standing lamps, the standard light bulbs only light the lower part of the lamp, does anyone know if it is possible to light the lamp form...

does anyone know where I can get 25mm x 762mm (1" x 30") sanding belts with grit sizes 400, 320 240.
