Poor Quality Sound On Recent Tv Programs - Is There Not An Automatic Adjustment On Tvs?

Many times I have to use the remote to lower or increase the sound throughout a program which is annoying especially as I have a new Sony smart TV. It might be my imagination by I recall 20 years ago...
