storage heater repairs

Basically can old storage heaters be repaired? I have two in my new home both of which are sometimes very hot and at others barely warm. The boost and input control nobs are either worn out or stuck...

Electric Central Heating

There is an ad in my local paper for a 'new' form of central heating boiler and systom which they claim runs on economy 7 and is cheaper than storage heating. Does any one know of this?
