Car door handle

The outside handle on my bmw no longer works. It feels like it isn't connected to anything inside the door. I have the door panel off, but can't figure out how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Grout removal

Gasman suggested using a dremel to remove grout. What kind of bit works best?
