Kitten at Christmas

I have a 5 month old kitten and am concerned about what to do with him over Christmas. He spends days alone while i am at work and hates it when i leave in the mornings- he makes this awfull crying...

What should i do if i want a cat but live on the second floor without a cat flap?

I live in a house which has been converted into two flats. (ie ground floor is one flat and i live in the flat on the second floor). We really want to get a kitten but don't like the idea of it not...
