The Incredibles

16:07 Wed 30th Jun 2010 |

The Incredibles is an action adventure superhero film. Written and directed by Brad Bird who also was a director and creative consultant on The Simpsons. The ensemble voice cast is superb and includes Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Jason Lee and Samuel L. Jackson. The film shows what happens when superheroes settle down and have kids.

The film was an overwhelming success for Pixar and Disney. Audiences loved the Parr family and the realistic way in which their undercover lives have changed since they gave up superhero work as it is convincing, touching and hilarious. The Incredibles is great for children as the film often shows what it can be like for them in the real world plus there are stunning effects and action scenes. The film also appeals to adults as it is packed with one-liners and grown up self-effacing humour which resonates with everyone, even those of us who are not retired superheroes.

The plot is about the lives of the Parr family. The parents are former superheroes who are forced into retirement and so settle down and have some children. Dad (Mr Incredible) misses the old life and often goes out and secretly does superhero work. Mum (Elastagirl) spends her days looking after the home and children. When dad gets too involved in a case and ends up captured by Syndrome (an evil ex fan) it takes the whole family to rescue dad and save the world.
