Has anyone ever visited Eltham Palace in SE London? It's really near where I live but have never been and was thinking of going this weekend. If anyone's ever been there would you recommend it?

yes, it's part ancient history but also partly art deco inside, an unusual mixture and elegant. Nice gardens too. I'd recommend it.

Thanks jno. Good to know its worth visiting. That's Sunday sorted then!

Yep, its a nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I went there with Mrs Pid a few years ago (before I knew she was going to be Mrs Pid) and we had a really nice day. The weather was perfect & we had a fab picnic on the lawns. Mrs Pid later told me that was the day she realised she wanted to marry me and have my babies!

Went there last year - don't recommend taking children as they'll get bored - and well worth it.

Thanks everyone. No kids to take, just me and my housemate so no worries there.

Ahhhh stoo_pid that's so sweet! Bless you!

I've lived in the area for nearly 4 years and didn't even know it was there until a couple of weeks ago! Looking forward to Sunday now!

After you've been there, nip down Court Road towards Mottingham and go into The Tarn (the park on your left just before the railway bridge). The old ice well that used to serve Eltham Palace is still there. Then you can walk round the Tarn and feed the ducks!
