you got previous?
The ban is at the discretion of the judge. If you have a clean licence and were only just over 100 you might get away without a ban, especially if you can plead mitigating circumstances, but generally you're probably looking at a 3 month ban. Again the fine will depend on the circumstances but I'l be surprised if it were under 300.
A friend got 5 points and a fine for doing 103 on motorway (first offence) - but previous history has a LOT to do with punishment
A hundred MILES per hour???! You could've killed yourself and plenty of other people too. If I were the judge, I'd see to it that you never got behind the wheel again, or just kill ya on the spot before you kill anyone else. Use your head, bloke!!!
Totally agree with Buffy's sentiments - although I wouldn't actually kill you!
I would. A member of my family was killed by a lunatic like you several years ago. And i'll bet you had nowhere to go in a hurry anyway. Shape up and become a responsible member of society.
gg333 - as you can see, there are a number of Daily Mail readers who use this site. If you actually were clocked at 100mph or over there is a better than average chance of a 3 month ban.

no previous, thankfully, and believe me, the comments below really make me realise how stupid I have been. Thanks for ALL the answers, merry xmas!
there are circumstances where 100 mph is safe and circumstances where 70 mph is not. i do not want to start this whole debate off because - as we have seen - there are a number of rather 'reactionary' users of this site but i would just like to say that it is high time the limit on motorways was increased to 80 mph. Cars are a lot safer now than 20 years ago.
I am not a Daily Mail reader and have no idea what that was refering to. I have regularly driven at over 80 mph on the French autoroutes and have no problem with that since, the autoroutes are generally much quieter than our motorways, people are expecting cars at 80+ mph and (only on the autoroutes) the French are much better behaved than us Brits. Cars are a lot safer now than 20 years ago but that is of no importance until you crash it. Standards of driving, unfortunately, are the worst they have ever been.
Gef - you hit the nail on the head. It's the fact that the drivers who do 100mph are arrogant rather than skilled that is the problem, not the fact that it's 100mph. Rja, you'd react too.... and Meadow, the Daily Mail is an *awful* paper: I wouldn't read it if it had the winning lottery printed somewhere inside.
Ooh, and gg, merry christmas to you too - I sincerely hope you don't get banned, since you clearly know and understand that it was a stupid thing to have done, and probably won't do so again in a hurry. That's really the point isn't it?

Thanks for all the comments again....if I do get a ban it is entirely my own fault, and yes I will not do it again in a hurry. Since then I've stuck rigidly to all speed limits and do you know what - I've arrived at my destination a lot less stressed and in most cases the journey has taken no longer than if I had put my foot down and tried to race there. Lesson learnt? - definitely.
