Question Author
correct spelling COMFREY
Your gardener friend is right - though he would have spelled it Comfrey. It was (and is) used for healing wounds and abrasions, encouraging bone growth in the case of fractures, and relieving arthritis. Also used on varicose ulcers. In addition, the leaves can make a good fertilizer. It's a perennial, so if it spreads, you'd have to dig out what you don't want. It'll act as ground cover, and keep down weeds where it grows. http://www.allotment.org.uk/vegetables_and_herbs/Comfrey_The_Wonder_Plant.php
Sorry, Dosset, another instance of simultaneous keyboard action!
