I have acquired a Mazda E-Series van which needed a starter-motor and new battery. I took the old battery off (it was under passenger seat) to try and charge it, and noticed that the interior light and other gizmos were still working! Is there another battery somewhere?

Yes - answering my own question! - my mate found a second battery under the drivers seat. They are wired in parallel. Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation. It's a standard diesel van, not a camper or anything with obvious ancillary electricals.
