Any idea how to get rid of bullying cats?

My female cat as all of a sudden stopped wanting to go out, if she goes out it is for minutes,this is because a tom cat won't leave her alone.We have tried chasing this cat away but with no joy .Any suggestions ? thanks

We used to squirt an unwanted tom with a bit of water. It might sound unkind, but we felt that it wasn't being hurt, it would just associate coming to our door with something unpleasant as it was picking on our elderly cat. It didn't stop it completely, but it did turn up less often.

I agree with lizwizz a squirt of water soon gets rid of them and they don't get hurt just wet which most cats hate

Is your female cat speyed (neutured) - if not the I would recommend that this is done - it will reduce the inteseted males.....
