To anyone who has been mad enough to put themselves through childbirth ...

Hope your children / grandchildren / friends' children all have a good morning, and get into their chosen Uni's.

Champers all round?

When I had my last child I asked for drugs. The midwife examined me and said 'too late' I sobbed :-( I swore I'd never forget the pain.... Fingers crossed for the A levellers. The GCSE results don't come in for a week or so. My little man just said to me 'I think you might be disappointed with my results' I won't be :-)

You're right about childbirth JJ...some folk do it more than once!! Can never get my head round that...;)

the body doesn't remember pain. The mind does, but just remembers that it was there, not what it feels like. A nurse gave me some eye drops yesterday and said "You'll have forgotten how they sting", and she was right.
not that I am comparng eye drops with childbirth, or even with the agony of sitting exams.
jno....tell that to my friend who got a fractured pelvis when her child was born 15 years ago....;)

BA for ummmm for pointing out that parents should never be disappointed with their children's efforts.

Not that I'd know. But it sounds like a good principle.
If your child has the ability but doesn't work hard enough and the results are disappointing.........then i as a parent would say so and would need a serious talk.

If your child hasn't the ability but has worked hard, whatever the results, one should not be disappointed.

Some parents have bright children and some parents have pretty thick children......whatever the parents think.

The important phrase is "hard work".....if they have achieved that, then one can do no more.

// some parents have pretty thick children //

LOL, LOL, LOL ...

I think they prefer to describe them as "children whose abilities lie in different directions"

:oD
JJ....the worrying thing is that even the "thick kids" are getting into University........of some kind to do something.
Sqad is right. My daughter is as thick as....

She has tremendous wit though which, as far as I'm concerned, is a form of intelligence.

She's never been unemployed...she'll charm her way in any job. She's beautiful, she's funny, she gets employed.
Thing 1 appears to be stupid, so stupid that the school started assessing her to try to work out what to do with her. Everyone was amazed that she is actually horribly clever - she just can't apply it to school work.
I have achieved the other end ....
degree results with nephew

terrible A levels - couldnt do law - so waited on tables and joined part time.course - and finally his doting parent said:

he has finally ( ha! got the pun huh ? ) got the idea that if you are doing a course then you have to read the textbook

after five years I said......[ it was uphill work I can tell you ]
