Does anybody know of anything I can use to stop wasps coming in my window? I have a terrible phobia of them and I spend the summer months with very stale air in my house!!

P'raps you could buy one of these wasp/fly zapper thingermebobs Here - they're very good.

Also, you could always try putting one of those bead curtains up at the door (don't like 'em myself) & in Aussie they have mesh inner/outer doors, but as for the windows there's not much else you can do, apart from keeping a swat at the ready! Good luck.

I loathe wasps- what possible use are they on this planet? Do they have one???

I know Boo! I think they come straight from the darkest depths of hell actually. We had a nest in the eaves last year, it was sooo horrible :(

Ha, ha BOO, if you could see us lot sitting around the patio table, citronella candles aglow, waving our arms about trying to ward them off!

My husband never used to be bothered by wasps until two years ago. He was drinking a glass of lager, when he realised there was a wasp in it - too late, it had stung him on the bottom lip! He phoned me on my mobile, but I couldn't understand a word he was saying as his lip & tongue had swelled up so much. I had to rush home, take him to A&E where they gave him an injection & monitored his heart. He was in there for hours, but was thankfully okay in the end! Blooming things!

Ah ali - your poor pussycat!

My eldest daughter stamped on a wasp next when she was 6, the 'orrible little beggers, covered her from her chest upwards. I was hysterical and probably did the stupidest thing possible- I whipped her tshirt off over her head and in doing so they stung her face.

After taking her to A&E we were relieved to discover she'd only been bitten 8 times (sounds alot I know, but you wouldnt believe how many were on her!) Luckily she was fine and was allowed home after having some sort of gloop put on the bites.

Not surpisingly at nearly 18 she has a REAL fear of them and is reduced to a gibbering wreak if one comes near her.

Horrible things
Where I used to work in a bakery I became a dab hand at catching 'em in a pair of tongs and watching them wriggle !

well I can certainly remember the first time I had a wasp sting. I was preparing dinner, got stung on my arm & I went into shock.......not from the sting but from hearing my (now ex) husband say 'Sit down, I'll do it'

sorry it doesn't answer your Q ali :o)

actually you can buy fly scrren for windows which is attached by adheshive velcro....it depends whether you'd mind it stuck to your frames. To give you an idea of what I mean there's some here

if you ask at diy stores I daresay you might find some if you don't want to buy online, Wilkos maybe?

*oh heck sorry about the spelling in that post it looks like I'm drunk! I'm not, honesht... :o)
As I suspect that wasps in general have actually caused very little damage to the planet and its environment and natural resources in the last few million years compared to the total chaos and destruction that certain other species have managed to inflict in only a couple of hundred years I don't think you should call into question their right to be here.

well qapmoc I just dont want them in my house thanks! I would rather stop them coming in as I feel I cant do anything but spray them to death as I am so scared of them, and my poor cat is now petrified of them too. I am not questioning their right to be here, just their right to be buzzing around my living room :(
