Hi !

One of my twelve years old pupils asked me to write in her poetry book (I don't know if this kind of thing exists "on the other side of the Channel" it's a kind of album in which girls collect poems from their schoolmates and sometimes from their teachers. I imagine I could write an acronymic (?) poem derived from her first name, something easy (she's only been learning English for a few months) and nice. She's such a sweet girl. Can anyone suggest something like S is for ... or maybe a link ? The girl's name is Sandra. Thanks.

Here is an acrostic poem - being her teacher you would need to steer clear of personal descriptions. Obviously you could change anything you think she might not understand and this is only a first attempt, so apologies if it not what you are after.

I had a try:

Sunshine Air Nature DRevive Always

Jules' first comments may be right... but isn't that sad!?  That a teacher can't be nice about a pupil any more! :-(

Some things in life are bad

And some things make you mad

Not everything is all it's meant to be

Don't worry if you feel sad

Run around, laugh and be glad

And then you will see how happy you can be

Sorry, just passing time before I pop off home.  Inspiration from Monty Python!

Question Author
thank you all for your suggestions. Octavius, this may be inspired by the Monty Python, but it's exactly what I was looking for... If you happen to be so inspired when you just have to pass time before going home, Chapeau ! as we say in French.

de rien, je vous en prie.

I think!

Smile

And be glad

Nice things will happen

Dream

Reach for new heights

And win!

This sounds like the thing we used to do MANY years ago; we all had "autograph albums" with the traditional "By hook or by crook I'll be first in your book" etc etc.

If it's like that, why not - "Don't look for flaws as you go through life, and even when you find them, it is wise and kind to be somewhat blind, and look for the virtues behind them." ?
