nursecarla mouth ulcers as your probably aware are of course painful given that they are a breach of the epithelial lining of the oral mucosa exposing the underlying lamina propria contaning nociceptors. Therefore I should think that saltwater (akin to rubbing salt in a wound) would make it painful. Of course saline has its place as an effective antiseptic but why suggest it when there are effective soothing mouthwashes and pastes available.
because she asked for a natural non medicine remedy x there are no cures for mouth ulcers and salt water is merely an old but effective way of reducing the pain im not prescribing rat poison! x
I know I appreciate that nursecarla sorry to have upset you x
for those who would like a medicine for mouth ulcers i find that chloraseptic works for everything. Its designed for sore throats but i use it for mouth ulcers too

just spray it on the ulcer and it will sting for a moment and the be totally numb for a good few minutes

however since it is a throat spray i would advise only giving it one spray for mouth ulcers
you didnt upset me sorry if i seemed aggressive :)) x x
Have you tried Bonjela? Its a gel that you can buy in the chemist, its not too strong - as in it wont make you hit the roof when you apply it - but it may help. I used to use Anbesol, but that was so painful to apply that I gave up with it. I used to get loads of ulcers when I was a teenager, not so many now, just the occassional one, people don't realise how painful they are unless they have them. I was advised to try and increase my intake of B vitamins - marmite, nuts etc, may be worth looking at that or seeing a homeopath if you can.
