Wimbledon Men's Final - Djokovic V. Federer
Here we go, hoping for a great match between two incredible tennis players.

The two best players in the sport this fortnight, at least. But in fact Federer is in danger of slipping behind Murray. Over the year he's been a bit less consistent, at the bigger tournaments, losing matches to Seppi, Kyrgios and Monfils. So in fact in 2015 Murray has been the second best player in tennis overall. Unfortunately, on Friday Federer found his best tennis and then some, while Murray's fallen short against Djokovic on 4 occasions.
The current ATP Race (the fairest guide to current form) rankings are Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka and Federer in the top four (Federer and Wawrinka almost level, Murray a whole Masters tournament ahead of those two, and Djokovic two slams ahead of Murray). So based on that lack of consistency for Federer, I'd expect him to slip behind Murray over the next couple of months.

I'm loving seeing all the behind the scenes post-match footage, so nice to see them being more themselves, especially Djokovic's posing for the crowds outside the Courts! Saw Federer went by him without a word, for press I assume. I wonder how they all get on off the court and outside of the tournaments.

Awww, I'm a bit teary at all the finishing bits (though doubles to finish!), such a great two weeks. Must be a bit gutting for the doubles finalists as like it's all over already.

I expect they almost enjoy that -- Mixed Doubles is (mostly) just for fun, I think, so the players might find the atmosphere less tense after the highs of the final.

I think I might give the doubles a miss, saw Hingis and Paes go through on Thursday and although good tennis, they seemed a bit smug and it annoys me how they have to touch each other after every point.

I guess the point about Slams in particular is that he has to string seven performances together, including typically at least one stellar performance against another of the Big Four (and, with the form Djokovic and Murray are in against the rest of the field, probably two in succession). That's a tough ask, and indeed Djokovic probably got a bit lucky with the draw at Wimbledon as he only ever had to play one out of Murray and Federer (and Nadal, if he were ever to be competitive at Wimbledon again) this year. Still had to get past Anderson etc, but with the "Big Four" currently shaken up a bit, then draws can make a potentially large difference. On the other side of the coin for Djokovic, at the French Open he had to face Nadal and Murray in succession -- while he successfully got past both in the end, it's possible that those games took it out of him mentally -- enough for Wawrinka to be able to take advantage and win the title outright. Maybe there, the draw hurt Djokovic a bit.
Not that this means Djokovic's win isn't impressive, of course. Like Murray in 2013 he had to come back from two sets down once, and then there were moments in the Final that could have led to huge swings, so he did a great job to win it again.

With respect to the age thing, I suppose it is odd to see 33 as old. I'm the lower side if it but what amazes me is that I'm only a couple of years younger than Andy Murray and Djokovic -- and yet after watching them on the Tennis circuit for the last decade, they seem so much older really.
Oh, and that also means that in a couple of years or so I'll be older than half of the players on tour! :(

Interesting thread, here. I've only just found it, hours after the tennis has finished. I was at work while trying to watch the men's final. I think some of my customers got annoyed that I had my eyes on the telly when I should have been concentrating on them.
I enjoyed the mixed doubles too, even though it was over in a flash. Great to see Martina Hingis still doing so well. I always liked her.
We've still got Davies Cup coming up soon. With Andy, Jamie and James doing so well recently, they've got a great chance to get to the semis.
