I just wish guardsmen had the right to give plonkers such as this ever such a slight - but actual - prod with the bayonet, rather than just being obliged to shout and adopt a threatening posture.

The way they did of course. And what's this comment re concern about enemies ? Sounds like a protest too much to me.
