Well, for a start there'd be less vigorous discussion in my local of an evening!

Sorry, Danni, I'll put my thinking cap on and try to come up with something sensible.

Problem is Danni, how do you define a prejudice? There are the obvious ones, I suppose, but others are merely a difference of opinion and shouldn't be classified as a true prejudice. To test my theory, merely begin a thread in one of these forums about immigrants and then quickly duck your head to avoid the firestorm. We have the same thing here in the U.S., by the way. The results of deleting everything that could be taken as a prejudice by someone would result in exponentially more politically correct drivel than seen today. Someone's feelings can always be hurt, but in a lot, if not most, cases, that's just a fact of life... in my opinion...

Well, if you mean that miraculously suddenly everyone had no prejeudice then we would see a total breakdown of society as there wiould be a huge slide in morals and crime as no-one would mind child molesters and rapists anymore, or presumeably mind criminals full stop.Part of the reasons we do not commit crime as people is that we are afraid of and aware of the social stigma that attaches to it.Most men fancied Britney Spears when she was 15 and a lot of people would commit crimes if they thought they could get away with it.We have to have prejeudice against bad behaviour or we inadvertantly endorse it.

If you mean, as Clanad took it, that we dispose of anything that might be even slightly prejesudicial , we would have a sterile world of politically correct crap as he rightly says.

danni............ it would be the end of the news section, because believe it or not some of the users defend rapist, child molester's and want more illegal immigrants in the country and believe that the state scroungers deserve the money they are not entitled to!!

but saying that,i would be classed as prejudice as i disagree with half the so called do gooder's in the world!!

I think to mention rapists, child molesters then iillegal immigrants in the same sentence shows considerable disrespect for immigrants, how the hell can you lump them together with the other two?

PS Perhaps if prejeudice was eradicated rugeleyboy would cease to exist! :)

now now....... i was merely expressing my opinion about the news section in general!!

i did not nor will i ever disrespect another human being by asociation with child molester's and rapist's!!!

noxlumos...... RE, your answer to me!

did you think it was ok to mix state scroungers with molester's and rapist's?

i point this out as a mark of respect to you and your previous answers,i hold great respect for you but i will defend myself when you try to court contravercy!

I presume you meant molesters and rapists and I and association and controversy instead of molester's and rapist's and i and asociation and contravercy.

The question was about prejudice. Think about the word for a moment...it means to 'pre judge' something without fully knowing about it.

If someone is a rapist/child molester, you aren't prejudging him/her if you find out about them. They have already committed the act, and you judge them on that.

However, to prejudge a black man as a potential mugger is ridiculous because you're associating a trait with a race.

And I hope that everyone who gets so hot under the collar about 'PC cr*p' also get out on the streets to protest about real racism.

By the way, I don't mean to suggest that previous posters on this thread hold racial prejudice...it's just the easiest one to give an example of.

To clarify - if you know someone is a rapist, then you wouldn't be prejudiced if you kept your daughter away from him.

If however, you thought that all men were 'potential rapists', and chose to keep your daughter away from every bloke she met - then that would make you prejudiced.

And if we all suddenly woke up tomorrow morning without a prejudiced bone in our bodies, the world would be a much better place.

Bigots are fools.

perhaps your are pre judging me on my spelling, perhaps i suffer from a mild form of dyslexia?

therefor you are holding a prejudice towards me?

I think sp1814 has a lot of prejudices of his own .He knows what they are .
We all have prejeudices that's the point. If I see someone with a swatika tatooed on his head, with no hair and a pitbull, BNP/National Front immediately spring to mind and my hackles rise. now that man may not be in the BNP or National Front, but I'll have to fight my own prejeudices on that to give him the benefit of the doubt. We all have them, we just have to address them as best we can.

Dolly is correct.

I'm prejudiced against people who use English incorrectly. I hate myself for it, but I do. I immediately judge people who cannot speak correctly or who have a poor grasp of grammar.

It's my inner snob coming out.

Oh, and I hate people with perms.

So sp you hate people with perms ,the old ladies round your area need to lok out if they are out on a dark night !!LOL .Remember also not everybody has had your advantages in life eg college education ,you would do well to become more tolerant of others !!!!
* look not lok!
