Recently, a group of shcool children were asked what they wanted to be when they were older and a large number of them simply said 'famous'. When I was a kid you at least wanted to be a pop star or something, not just famous.

Because all they see is everyday people being called famous & celebs. Look at Chantelle (try not to laugh) she's made a mill they reckon. Kids think if she can do did it so can I. Sad I know.
that's the problem with celebs these days, few have any actual skills, they are simply famous for being famous!

shame I agree!

It does show what the children of our modern world are being fed with on a regular basis - celebrities, pop idols and all sorts of people who have been involved in one sexual or drug abuse scandal or another, but whom the media has promoted and projected to 'stardom'.

When I was growing up people wanted to become lawyers, doctors, engineers, scientists, etc. Unfortunately, not any more, at least in most of the western world.

Hmm....but who reads the gossip mags/news papers that help propel these people to celeb status?
To be quite honest, with the Drugs and thugs running around the country now, I think they will be lucky to grow up.
