Samsung D500 Screen

Can anyone help,I have a Samsung d500 which was a year old on 27/4/06 and on the 2/5/06the screen just went funny when i turned it on,all i can see is the bottom 5th of the screen the rest is just white,i have taken the battery off and left it for a while to see whether that would help but it didn't so i was wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows whats the matter......

there is a ribbon bable between the front and back of the phone, which allows the slide function.
among other things, this transfers the information to be displayed on the screen.
