One of my front teeth (not the front two but one to the left of them) has been loose for the last couple of years but I could live with it.

But over the last few months it has been getting worse and today I went to the dentist about it.

He said it needed to be removed, so what he could do is fit a false one it its place, and glue or fix it to the tooth next to it (which is a good tooth).

Today he took the various measurements to have the false tooth made, and next Thursday I have to go back have it done.

Has anyone had this done, and has it been ok?

Has it affected your eating or anything like that?

I find the idea of having it done a little scary (I am not a great fan of going to the dentists, who is) but if others say it has worked for them I can sleep easier till next week.

Of slight concern to me would be bits of food getting wedge between the two tooth , which might be difficult to remove when brushing ; and causing possibly decay to the natural tooth.

But my concern may well be baseless

Sounds like you are having a crown fitted. I've had two in the last year - two teeth broken whilst eating. I was very apprehensive too but it's not a problem at all, I found the worst bit having the impression for the new tooth unpleasant (made me gag shot). The new teeth look and perform fine. Sure you'll be fine.
I would have thought if he was having a crown , the dentist would have said that's what the procedure is ?
I had one just the same, many years ago. No problems at all. I guess it varies, but with mine, he drilled a post into the existing gum, and glued the new tooth on.

Believe it or not ........... you need front teeth to play the saxophone (biting on the mouthpiece.) Never had any problems.
I've had exactly what you describe for a few years now and it's terrific. Before that, I had the sort of crown The Builder has for about 30 years but eventually the old root broke up and out it came. The new thing is stuck to the back of my incisor and looks perfectly natural. Well pleased with it.
