My brother is over and spending my inheritance!
Anyway mother buying a new cooker. I think there has been new regulation as to how far the work surfaces should be and that the cooker should be above work surfaces. Am I correct or talking nonsense?

how far where the work surfaces should be?? My freestanding range cooker, put in four years ago has got the work surfaces butted up to the cooker and the hob is more or less level with the work tops.
As long as the cooking rings/plates are level or above the worktops you'll be fine.
