For many and various reasons (mainly to do with currency controls where I am currently living) I would like to pay some of my savings commitments via Visa instead of direct debit. The investment companies seem to have no problem with this, but will Visa treat it as a cash advance and charge interest from day 1?

I'm a bit surprised that investment companies will take Visa - I've never found one that does.

Make sure they don't think it's a visa DEBIT card that you are using, and check with both them and your VISA issuer about whether it is a cash advance - I've a nasty feeling it will be.
