irritating sound in ie6

despite setting my sound scheme to no sounds and disabling play sounds in web pages in explorer/options/advanced i am getting the most annoying sound whenever i open a page--it is like a creaking door slamming shut hard and is very short--how do i get rid of this b4 i go mental

i have found my own answer to this and it also ties up with my next ported Q--the sound was coming from pop swatter--part of the smiley central package--there is an option to turn it off
