Can anyone please help me I want to record from my freeview box onto my dvd recorder but my recorder wont find the channels past channel 5

there is 1 scart on my tv and one antenna (aerial) hole

an antenna in, a scart which says tv, then scart which says vcr/aux, on the freeview box,

then on the recorder there is ref in, ref out, scart in, scart out, and red white and yellow for holes for video out, then a coaxil socket and an optical square socket.

Can anyone make any sense from this because I cant and I wrote it.

Thanks very much

I lhave to set my dvd recorder to record AV2 as the channel and make sure the box is turned on and set to the channel I want to record.

I have to manually set the recording - not use videoplus.

Good luck!

Use a Scart lead to connect VCR/AUX on the Freeview box to Scart In on the DVD recorder. This will provide a signal for the DVDR to record. Note, however, that the signal won't be a radio frequency signal (like the one which comes down the TV aerial) so there isn't a 'channel' as such which your DVDR needs to be tuned to. Instead you need to set your DVDR to record 'AV'. This usually appears as an extra button, alongside the normal channel buttons, on the handset.

To record, for example, A Very Social Secretary from More 4 tonight, you need to ensure that your Freeview box is switched on and receiving Channel 13. Then you need to set your DVDR to record 'AV' from 2315 to 0050.

Note that, because you've only got one Freeview tuner, you can't watch one digital channel while recording another. If, however, you want to record different digital programmes (transmitted at different times) onto the same DVD you can do this by using the timer facility which is built into most Freeview boxes. (i.e. you set your DVDR to record 'AV' at all of the appropriate times and then you use the programming facility within the Freeview box to make it switch channels at those times).

I agree with you. The freeview signal occupies one channel only and therefore if you have tuned your freeview to you DVD recorder whatever programme you have selected on your freeview box will be recorded.

So first question is can you record any freeview television?

Your antenna(coaxial) cable should go direct to digi-box into R/F 'in' and then a SCART should be connected from the digi-box to the DVD Rec. and a further SCART from AV out on DVD Rec to your TV..

Check that for a start.

When you are switching from channel 1 to 5 on your DVD recorder you are actually watching the TV channels from the TV tuner inside the DVD box.

To switch to the input for the freeview box you need to switch to AV1 or AV2 which equate to the scart inputs on the back of the DVD recorder.

How you switch to these varies on remote controls. On my TV it is shown as a small arrow pointing right, on my DVD recorder it is called Input Select.

I think you need to connect your Freeview box scart to the DVD recorder scart, then the DVD recorder scart to the TV.

The aerial goes into the freeview box first, then to the DVD recorder, then to the TV.

This should be explained in the book that came with the DVD recorder.
