Opera Quiz Question

In which opera is the TITLE character visited in his study by a grey friar? I have two answers - Faust or Mefistofele. Faust is the title character but no mention of a grey friar. Mefistofele is dressed as a grey friar but is not the one being visited. Has anyone any suggestions please?
