Recently tho (last few days) its getting worse, it has progressed from constant nausea to constant nausea with severe bouts of actual sickness, is this normal?? I am trying to keep up at work but its getting harder and harder and I don't know what to do :-( anyone have any tips?? I have tried preggy pops and herbal stuff but nothing works and its really getting me down x

Poor you! I do sympathise Danni! I went through much the same thing myself. There are a couple of things you can do to feel a bit better:-

1) try eating dry toast or plain biscuits - they'll soak up the excess acid and you won't feel so bad

2) avoid all the odours that are likely to trigger it!

3) Ginger helps - you can get ginger capsules from the health food shop. Also, there is a ginger drink which comes in sachets from Chinese supermarkets.

At least there's good news about feeling sick allthe time - I've heard it said that the more nauseous you are, the more stable the pregnancy! Good luck!

Hi Danni,

Morning sikness is very commom but occasionally it can be quite severe, i cant recall what its called. The best action for you to take is to speak to your midwife asap or your GP. They can take notes of how often you are being sick and if its severe they will probably prescribe an anti sickness drug that safe during pregnancy.

I was never actually sick just gagged a lot and felt sick. I found that mints or boiled sweets helped a lot.

I hope you feel better soon. The middle part of pregnancy is the best

There is

I was fairly lucky with my 2 & only suffered mild nausea at the beginning but my friend suffered terrrible she said ginger nut biscuits & sucking frozen grapes use to help.

But if your suffering severe bouts of vomiting you need to see your gp or midwife because the constant sickness could cause you to become dehydrated.

Congratulations btw & I hope you get to enjoy the 'nice bits' of your pregnancy soon :)

Hiya Danni, I'm 12 weks too... I've been suffering with nausea at various times of the day but have found this week has been the worst of all especially at work, it's not that easy to remain focused and act in a professional manner when all you can think about is rough you're feeling.

I keep a packet of biscuits in my bag and have a bottle of juice to hand - although I do feel rotten tucking into a biscuit and all the children tell me how unfair it is that I can eat biscuits in class and they can't!

Have you visited ivillage.co.uk? if you go to their message boards they have a board dedicated to pregnancy - there are lots of women on there all going through the same thing and you can share your thoughts and any concerns. I've found the site really helpful. - I'm Lore06 on the 'due november board!'

Hope you're feeling better soon x

i have to agree with Lore that ivillage pregnancy boards are great. i joined when first pregnant and 18 months on am still on the Mums June 05 board.

You should pop by and take a peak

You want to try acupunctureit worked wonders 4 my mates sister in law and she had aweful morning sickness and it helped so much she wasnt sick through out the rest of the pregnacey hope u feel better
I had hyperemisis with my middle one and was sick so frequently that ended up in hospital on a drip. If I had gone to the docs sooner, I perhaps could have been prescribed anti sickness tabs and stayed out of hospital.

I would advise you to go to the doctors tomorrow and if the sickness is really severe, he can sign you off work sick. You will not be able to stay hydrated properly if you are being sick and are also busy. Sometimes being tired and over doing things can make the sickness worse, so you really do need to rest. Also, the severity of the sickness can be linked to twins etc so it would be worth chatting to your gp just to get things checked out.

Hope you feel better soon.
