Tv Liscensing

hi all

just set up my tv licence for the first time and i just wanted to check that as this is now set up (i should be receiving a tv licence number in the next few days) that i can start watching tv? Do i have to wait until i have the tv licence number? I thought i read it was instant but thought i best check with people who will surely know more than me!

Did you do it online? If so, it's instant and you will be ok to view.

I've had the licensing people call here, the lady was actually very nice (I hadn't changed my address when I moved so it looked like I didn't have a license).

I doubt they are obliged to, but if you forget they will remind you and don't follow up getting you arrested if it turns out you were watching a few days without the licence.
