Am I wrong in either a personal level or legally to insist that my ex partner tells me where he has taken our son when he has visitation

i don't think so on any level - he's your son and its only normal to want to know where he is / was... but would you be annoyed if your ex insisted on knowing were you went with your son the rest of the time? you see my drift - prob need to tread carefully on the subject

bridge- i know how you feel my ex brings our son back and doesn't tell me anything i somewhat guess if he's been feed i can usually tell that he hasn't had a wash, if he's whingey he's tried which means he went to bed late and got up early and where he's been god(and his dad)only knows. Anyway he's 5 now so i can ask him and sometimes i get an answer but sometimes he just says "i dont know" but he's happy and can't wait to see him again so i just leave them too it ,like father like son.

Do you have any reason to think that your ex is taking your son anywhere "unsuitable"? If your son is very young and say your ex was taking him to sit in the pub all afternoon then I wouldn't be too chuffed. If however your ex is a decent chap then I'm with Undercovers on this one, would you like your ex wanting to know what you were doing with his son? Why would your ex not tell you anyway??

Before I read undercovers answer I was going to say the same thing. how would you feel if your ex partner insisted on knowing your movements with your son for the period between his visitation.

I'd try and keep it civil and just ask for basic facts such as if he has eaten etc. Say you are not trying to interfere with his buisness but simply need to know for the health of your son.

Thank you all but I know in the past he has taken him to the pub I also found out through the grape vine which he confirmed to be true that he took him to do a roofing job with him. I would love to be in a situation where I could trust him but he has told me before if he felt I would disagree with where they were going he would lie to me.
