Bulger Murderer Blames Mum?

Not to condone what so ever the despicable and grotesque acts carried out by the murderers, I have always wondered why the mother left a toddler on his own outside the shop?
I realise that she will ask herself that question every day and it must haunt her. Of course she isn't responsible but would you leave a toddler?

When my girls were little and still in a (double) pushchair I often left them outside shops, there was no way to get the pushchair through the shop doors. I'm definitely not the only person who did this, it was a common sight in the late 80s/early 90s.

I'm not sure that James Bulgers mother left him alone outside the shop. From what I can remember, she took him into the shop, but while she was packing her bag, James wandered to the open door and this is when those two low life took him. For Venables to blame James's mother is just not on. By doing this, he is saying that if anyone leaves a child unattended for just a very short time then it's your own fault if your child gets abducted and killed.This is completely different to the McCann case where the parents purposely left their children alone for a long time.

Common enough sight in the 50/60s to see babies in prams outside shops. It would have been impossible to take the big prams inside.We were also encouraged by the health visitors to put baby outside in the pram to get some fresh air. Toddlers were kept on reins, mainly for their own safety, stop them running into the road etc.

It was normal practice to leave babies in prams and toddlers in pushchairs outside shops. The world was different then (and is much missed). Ambulant toddlers were usually tethered by reins if they were difficult (one of mine was a wanderer). This poor mother scarcely turned her back on one who was obviously an obedient little soul. Certainly not her fault and dreadful that it should all be brought back to haunt her.

They did it with Madeleine McCann as well ummmm, they insisted on calling her Maddie and her parent had never used that name for her.
