Try telling that to the turbine owners who are pocketing £95,000 profit per turbine per year! The ones up the road from us have not stopped for the storms.

They aren't all as much of a con as people make out. Wind turbines account for 4% of global energy production, which is a pretty decent amount, and about 9% of the UK's total for a year (and, on occasion, has even generated 20% of the electricty we needed in a single day). It's not a con, so long as it's stressed that wind power forms only a part of the future energy provision the world needs. I think that "Only a part" is often missing or under-stressed when it's discussed.
wee ecks?
Turbines are evolving fast, the newest types generate power 60 to 85% of the time. There is also a lot of research on noise reduction with a potential reduction of 85% being mentioned, that would make them virtually silent from 50 yards away.
I have shares in a few windfarms and get a good return from them.
