I currently have BT Vision but it is very problematic and unreliable. I have been experiencing this for months now and although I have reported the problem to BT they have been unable to resolve it. I now want to buy an ordinary Freeview Box that operates from an aerial. The box should have playback, pause and record facilities. Has anyone got any recommendations on the best kind to buy. Many thanks.

I would recommend Richer Sounds, too...and I'd go for Humax. http://www.richersounds.com/products/home-cinema/home-cinema-separates/digital-set-top-boxes

If it has playback, pause, and record it isn't ordinary.

These days they seem to be commodity items. Cheap, low quality build, and the supermarket only ever stocks one brand.

Perhaps go to somewhere like Richer Sounds, see what they have in stock ?
The Humax HDR-FOX T2 is one of the best Freeview recorders you can buy.

Thank you all so much for your advice. Certainly looks like a Humax. I will take this forward. Thank you again.
The HDR2000T is £30 less at Richer Sounds...
I have a Humax in the bedroom. If left on it quickly loses EPG info. I complained to the Humax helpdesk. Told it was expected to do that ! I reckon the design leaks memory. If left long enough it starts to lose channels.
I have a Humax, it's great. I can record two programmes and watch another at the same time.
