I have a CD that I bought in a club, mixed by the DJ on the night. When i play it on my PC it shows only one track, as they all merge into one. typically the one track I want is at the very end! Is there a way to rip just this one track. For example can I put breaks in the CD. Hope someone understands the question and can help.

Thanks

Download the free program audacity or goldwave and that will allow you to select part of the track to cut and save as a stand alone mp3 or wav file if you want to keep it cd compatible.

Yeah, you need to get some audio editing software.

Not sure what to recommend - I've got soundforge but it's not great.

You'll need to load the CD onto your hard drive then edit the wav/mp3/wmv (or whatever you save it as) file. Just pinpoint where the track you want starts, and put a break there, then delete the rest and export the track to a new file.

Et voila!

Thanks, will have a go.
Just tolet u know audacity program nearly fried my computer last night. Dont bother withit. get something good like cubase etc.
Not used Cubase myself, though it is held in high regard. However, unless you get a dodgy copy it isn't cheap, while Audacity is free (and has yet to fry any of my computers over the years and has a huge user base that have used it without problem).
I can highly recommend Audacity for the job, as khana suggested. Works great.
Never had a problem with Audacity : been using it for years
Forgot to say, you'll possibly need to "rip" the entire disc to your hard drive (save it as wav or mp3), then open this file with Audacity or whatever prog you use, and then edit out the bit that you don't want.
With Audacity, just highlight the huge bit at the beginning that you want rid of and press Ctrl + K.
Then "export as mp3"

I'm not aware of any progs that can rip only part of one track as opposed to the whole thing. It seems as if your entire CD is stored as one song and you only want from the 30th to 35th minute for example.
cdex can easily select a part of a CD/track either as wav (for CD recording) or as mp3.
