I have a Kindle which was purchased in the UK with a UK Card.
Activated it from Greece by simply adding a UK address (my In-Laws) to my list of addresses in "My Account", and then selecting that as the activation address.

ummmm

I'm being really thick here but why do you activate a kindle. I keep getting emails from Vodaphone to activate mine. What does activating it achieve?

(I've barely used it since we got it. OH is using it for films)

I was referring to the Kindle e-reader. You obviously are referring to a Kindle tablet. The reason for activating (or registering) is so that, when you purchase an e-book from Amazon, it can be delivered to the device.
