You can try this quite simply if both you and the person you wish to speak to has access to the internet. Use a package such as Microsoft messenger, which is probably on your PC already. If not just download it from the Microsoft web site and follow the installation instructions. The other person would also need to install this as well. The instructions to add the other person onto your contacts list is pretty straight forward. Once you can see them online you will be able to type messages back and forward or else speak to them provided that both of you have access to speakers/headphones and a microphone. Obviously the call made to access the internet is not free as you will be paying a service provider in some way for this. For local calls it is probably not worth the bother However, for long distance calls this could lead to decent savings. The quality is pretty good as well.
