...sorry, but it is just me who thinks that the people who ask 'how many miles from a to b' or 'how long does it take to fly from x to y' are just time wasters asking pointless questions?! Surely if you wanted to fly from x to y you would have looked on the airline website and it would give you the information you seek........

Roaldom you are right there , i am an idiot like that sometimes , i sent a question in where i could get beach towel forgetting i could look on net. The question had already gone by then.

I do think though on thing's like holidays i would rather have the opinion of people who have been to the place you are visiting rather than go by brochure or website.

The site is called Answer bank so if you have a question and want an answer this is where you come. Asking a broad spectrum of people the same question can result in a range of results instead of just one, possibly wrong answer from an airline website.

Maybe they have already checked but just want to make sure. It seems perfectly reasonable to ask questions about time and distance, why not?

I've answered quite a few of those "How long is the flight . . ." questions. The majority of them seem to relate to charter flights. I suspect that people have booked holidays (or are considering booking holidays) through websites which only provide basic information about the flights (i.e. check-in and departure times but not flight durations or airline details). In such instances, the questioner won't even know the name of the airline which will be operating the flight so there's not an obvious place for them to go to seek the information they require. So perhaps, in some cases, those questions aren't quite as daft as they seem?

also, airlines - which generally pad their schedules - are less reliable than AB members who have actually done the flight and can tell you about it.

What a cheeky Question.

Why do people just come on to have a pop at others?I'm reluctant to post at times because there is always one person who will pick at your Q or your A.

Sorry auntiebertie - thats the way I feel and I think the other replies were very polite.
