Checked in the Collins Dictionary and it's actually

EUPNOEA

Being a medical term I consulted a medical dictionary Webster's Medical and it gave me Eupnaea.
Question Author

Collins Dictionary has two spellings eupnoea or an American version - eupnea.

In the Sunday Express, it used to say "use the Collins Dictionary spellings" but it doesn't say that today, so I guess either "aea" or "oea" on the end will do.

Re The Sunday Express and the use of Collins the Guardian crossword editor has posted a notice 'No self respecting solver should prefer Collins to Chambers after the former's decision to drop names of famous people'

This may explain why the Express don't seem to use Collins as their reference.

Thank you. That's interesting. I never understood why some people of no particular note were included and others not. Anyway, it will be interesting to see which version of our word will be printed in the solution in next Sunday's "Express".
