Have you ever bought a music album purely because of its cover? In the mid 1970s I bought Tubular bells because its cover was so eye catching. It was the first release from Richard Branson's Virgin Records. I had never heard of Mike Oldfield (not many people had) and I liked it straight away. 30 years on I still do. Any similar experiences?

It's not something I would usually do, but I did it once with Rickie Lee Jones first album. She just looked so cool on the cover, I thought there's no way this could not be a great album. I loved it from the opening bars of the first song, and went on to buy 3 of her other albums, so it was well worth it. Lucky, considering how hard I am to please when it comes to music.

beth orton - trailer park.

The one and only time i did this- and wasn't disappointed.

Ellis, Beggs and Howard - "Homelands" in 1988. I still listen to it regularly. Luckliy I found a CD copy recently on Ebay because my tape was getting worn out! A little known group who only released the one album, the cover is cool!

I've bought a few on the basis of the cover alone....

Best Album cover for me- David Bowie- Diamond Dogs. Bit of Class Art for its time.
Ellis, Beggs & Howard ? ( jgs ),didn't they have Kajagoogoo connections, or am I thinking of someone else ?
