Having a nightmare week and just bumped my car into somebody else's on the work car park - does anyone know how will I stand on the insurance as it is private land? Will I be able to claim on my insurance? I've left a note of their car to tell them to contact me and I don't know whether to get the insurers involved. Feel like going to bed and never getting up at the moment! Thanks

big hug for nykkie, honesty best policy, well done for owning up to it. someone knocked my wing mirror off in tesco's car park once, bless him, he waited till i came out to tell me, i was so impressed i told him not to worry about it and call it karma, honesty is good and deserves some reward. i dont think that insurance is invalid if you're on private land, they would have to draw our attention to that if it was and i;ve never noticed it on my policy. however, unless the damage is very bad or their car is very expensive, for the sake of having it all over in a day i'd protect my premium and my sanity and offer cash to cover the damage. dont involve your insurers until you have too. :-)

Thanks Treaclefight - always there when I need you! Can I employ you as my guru?? Think it's going to be an expensive bump for both cars, so I think I will have to get the insurers involved as I can't afford to pat garage bills :( Foot slipped from brake to accelerator and I've bumped their bumper and right wing. Mycars got a very dinted door. I think my car is getting me back as I keep threatening to sell it. Already cost me over 1000 in mechanical this year and it is (was!) only worth 1800! Don't know what I've done in a former life!
Nykkie don't want to lecture you about someone always being worse off (I am sure you will know that yourself already) but You've done the right thing....nowadays employers can take any actions on their premisis or time to reflect on your work life...so don't get pi55ed at the x-mas party and vomit on the boss or you can get fired these days...Plus it wouldn't have needed sherlock to look for the other bashed car if you hadn't stepped forward....As for the insurance I kust checked my own policy there and it will cover you for any roads in the UK (unless used for sport or other similar exceptions in the policy) this is assuming your Fully Comp though?

PS Don't worry about life...like you I am holding on to the hope that things just can't get any worse!
