janbee, so you think that Peter Sutcliff was perfectly sane?

are his actions that of a sane person? Yes a criminal, but obviously his crimes were carried out be a man with serious mental issues.

I just saw clips of it, very disturbing indeed!!

Does anybody know when it will be aired again?
next wednesday ratter
i used to do voluntary work in a large secure unit up here..with both court admissions and straightforward mental health issues as well..there were folk in there that had been put in because they were orphans..no crime or mental health problems..nobody else wanted them..also there were adults who had been born in there !!! some had been there 50 or more years..simply forgotten by society..there were also very dangerous criminals..murderers, rapists etc who were kept in a secure unit inside the secure unit !!
thanks minty, I may be working next Wednesday, not sure yet.
Minty, I also worked in such a unit, there we had women that their only crime was they became pregnant out of wedlock or could not read or write.
there but for the grace of God Ratter !
I remember staff in the Psychiatric hospital I worked in, in the 70s talking about Broadmoor, there view was that Broadmoor was more of a place for the worst of the worst, where they were pretty much tortured into doing what they were told, with frequent beatings and left for hours in ice cold baths. How much truth was in it I have no idea!!
Criminal/Patient call them what you like, anyone who hears voices in his head telling him to attack everyone in the room whilst cutting mango for a fruit salad deserves be kept in there.
And at £300k a pop for each person in there, surely there's an easier option for people who are that dangerous?
