olive oil or coconut oil works a treat with my little one.  Someone told me that it has to be 'cold pressed' but it doesn't really matter.  you just rub in a little oil then the cradle cap can be gently rubbed off.

It smells really nice too

a small amount of baby oil ribbed in at bath time, worked for me.
Cradle cap, the common term for infantile seborrhea dermatitis, causes thick crusting and white or yellow scaly patches on a baby's scalp. Self-care measures, such as washing your baby's scalp daily with a mild shampoo, can help loosen cradle cap scales.
Methods for preventing cradle cap includes applying petroleum jelly, vegetable oil or a baking soda paste on the affected area and leaving it for some time can be helpful in removing the scale from the scalp.
