Steve's bookmark fell out of his book and he was unable to remember what page he had got to. He did remember that he had passed page 800 already, and the total of all numbers below the pages the bookmark was berween was exactly the same as the total of the numbers above them. What were the page numbers of his place?

It is not impossible at all!
Steve's bookmark was between pages 900 & 901

There were 1273 pages in the book

The sum of numbers 1 to 899 = 404550
The sum of numbers 902 to 1273 = 404550

Well done, gen2. Did you use a formula - or trial and error?

I used a spreadsheet. Once I had put the formulas in I adjusted the bookmark page 2 at a time from 802 up.
