How to get members on my forum

Me and a friend are setting up a forum called lgbtforums.co.uk however this is my first time setting up a forum and i was just wondering if answerbank members more experienced in this had any advice as to how we can gain members on a brand new forum.

Not sure if answerbank will have this thread removed as you have mentioned the website address and they may think you're plugging it but....

Have you tried signing up with the search engines like google and yahoo and such like, I'm sure there is no charge and you can have your site come up on listings on searches and so attract more traffic and members to it.

i didnt know i couldnt but it in the question, cant see many people here wanting to join tho :S.

We've submitted to google, but the main issue is we need members to get started, at the moment theres only me and 2 other members, and it makes it hard to get discussions going on, and its like the snowball effect in that we will get more members if we have members, but as we dont have members were not getting members.
