The new Dove one that builds up over time is quite good and it has a nice smell. I found that the Johnsons one left a nasty lingering smell once it had dried. But if you want an actual tanner I wouldn't go past the Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel, dries in quite quickly, doesn't streak and the smell isn't too overpowering. Can't remember the price, but you've reminded me I need to put it on my next Boots list, ta!

I have found Johnson's Holiday Skin to be the best thing since sliced bread. It's a moisturiser which contains fake tan and goes on very eventy. Quite cheap too. It comes in two types, one for fair/medium and one for medium/dark skin. They also do one for the face.

I hadn't noticed the smell - I wonder why everyone has been avoiding me lately, rhona_j. Is the Dove one as effective as Johnson's?
I found it felt more 'rich' when I put it on, but then I like a rich moistruriser cream. It was the smell of the Johnsons when I went to bed that got me, but I persevered becuase I liked the colour (the not in your face 'you've just used fake tan'!). I think the coloours just as good. The Dove was on offer somewhere, that's the only reason I tried it, can't remember where though, sorry!
St tropez is the absolute best you can get

I use Johnsons Holiday Skin for just a touch of colour. Think of it more as a fake tan than a moituriser when your putting it on though i.e. scrub your hands and nails after and wash off before you go out. First time i used it i just slapped it on before work - Not a good idea!

For a better tan i use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze spray. it goes on really easy but i use a self tan applicator mitt (from the body shop) to apply it so it stays even and no blotchy bits.

Why not go for a spary tan in a booth at your local tanning place - our local sunbed place also has tanning booths - 13
definatley johnsons baby build up one!! i swear by it! and just went to buy some - its on offer in superdrug, 4.99 for a HUGE bottle!

Oh what a bummer!!

I paid 6.99 at the weekend for my Johnsons from Boots!!

It's good stuff though, I'm pale skinned and have never used fake tan before just incase I look like i've been tangoed. But this has been perfect considering Im a virgin fake tanner!

I dont find that the johnsons one (even the darker one) makes any difference to the colour of my skin!
