Under my contract with bt I am allowed 40 gb a month useage. If I download a series of 24 episodes of 45 minutes each episode, would that go over my allowance? Not that I am impressed with infinity, it quite often buffers, which is not good considering it is meant to be one of the better ones.

Many thanks.

You'd need to tell us how big each episode is, it goes on size of download, not duration.

We are delighted with Infinity ourselves, we get very little buffering, though do have to reset our Freeview box from time to time.
sorry to digress riptide - but Boxy I have been offered Infinity but would like to know did you have to pay for it to be activated. Ta
Download a few episodes and check your usage on the BT website the following day after the midnight update.
Hi Conne, no we didn't pay separately for activation as far as I recall, we moved onto a different calling plan when we upgraded our whole package from our original BT Broadboard package. We've had it for a couple of years now - really pleased with what it offers us.
Oh right thanks Boxy.
I paid £6.99 for the hub but nothing for installation.

Wish I knew boxtops it is greys anatomy on apple website, they are offering season 10 for £17.99, which I thought was good. My buffering normally occurs around 9ish in the evening, quite strange. I might do what angie suggests and download one episode and see what difference there is next day.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Guess you are right, frognog, but we already had a hub from the previous package, we had an upgraded one when we took Infinity.

We've got a 'Free' upgrade next week, actually cheaper than what we have at present, be interesting to see how it works out!
A typical 45 minute programme downloaded from BBC iPlayer uses around 240Mb if you use the 'Standard Definition' option or about 463Mb if you use 'High Definition'.

So 24 episodes in SD uses a bit less than 6Gb. Using HD you'd use up about 11Gb.

Great thanks Buenchico, will go ahead and get it.
The file sizes are listed in iTunes so go to it from the Store.

Episode 1 is 663MB in standard definition and 1.49GB in HD.
In which case it is close. No more surfing for riptide this month then. Or download half now and half next month ?

Thanks Old Gezer, looks as though I need unlimited broadband before too long. I shall wait till the dvd comes out in November, as I need to download other items this month.
